Microsoft Unveils Copilot Super App with Agentic Capabilities
Microsoft has unveiled its Copilot super app, aimed at business users with AI agents. The app is a major redesign of Microsoft's existing Copilot app, bringing together various features and capabilities to create a Swiss Army knife for AI productivity.
The new app will allow customers to chat with AI bots, tap AI tools to help accomplish tasks, write code, and access a new 'Autopilot' feature that brings agentic capabilities, AI that can act on tasks on its own, to the company's flagship AI app.
Copilot Executive Vice President Jacob Andreou has unified the consumer and enterprise sides of Copilot under his leadership. The super app is expected to help Microsoft win subscriptions in a business that's become increasingly important to the software maker, while also ensuring its lucrative productivity offerings don't get sidelined by new AI rivals.
Mary Pearl, corporate vice president of Copilot, emphasized the importance of making Copilot an all-in-one productivity suite, where users can ask questions, delegate complex tasks, build software, and automate work. The app's Autopilot feature allows users to name their agent, assign it a role and goal, then set it loose on tasks such as project updates, tracking deadlines, and reminding colleagues.
