Microsoft Unveils Copilot Updates with Enhanced Autonomy and Team Collaboration

Microsoft has announced updates to its AI platform Copilot, which will connect business tools with advanced enterprise capabilities. The technology company is introducing new features in September 2026 that aim to shift AI beyond basic chat interactions into complex, delegable tasks.

Copilot's latest additions include Home, a central hub where instantaneous chat and delegable work functions converge; Code, which enables workers to build cloud-hosted internal applications by describing workflows in natural language; and Autopilot, a digital teammate that can manage recurring work without requiring immediate prompts.

Mircosoft is also expanding the business context available to its AI tools by connecting them to broader enterprise data through Fabric IQ. The company's integration of office productivity software directly into the Copilot experience will allow users to draft briefs and model budgets within the application, generating editable documents that update live for entire teams.
