Microsoft Unveils Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Controller
Microsoft has added to the hype surrounding Gears of War: E-Day by releasing a limited edition Xbox Wireless Controller. The controller is designed in collaboration with the game's brutal aesthetic and features a cracked black-and-red design complete with the iconic Crimson Omen. The Limited Edition controller takes inspiration from the E-holes that Locust forces emerge from, with 3D-molded and laser-etched details recreating cracked asphalt across the front.
Most of the buttons remain black, while the X button, triggers, and D-Pad use transparent red-tinted designs. The rear battery door also features a silver COG tag, adding another small Gears-inspired detail. The controller is available to preorder now through the Microsoft Store and participating retailers, with a launch date set for October 6, the same day as the game.
For fans who want something more personalized, Xbox Design Lab will offer an option to create their own Gears of War: E-Day controller. Starting September 30, players will be able to design a custom top case decorated with a skull sitting above crossed Lancers, surrounded by additional skulls and battle-damaged details inspired by the war between the COG and Locust Horde.
Microsoft is also teaming up with 8BitDo on a matching charging dock, which comes with a rechargeable battery pack for the controller. Both controllers support Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, Android, and iOS, making them useful beyond just playing E-Day.
