Microsoft Unveils New Surface Devices with Snapdragon X2 Platform

Microsoft has unveiled two new Surface devices powered by the Snapdragon X2 platform, an upgraded 12-inch Surface Pro and a new 13-inch Surface Laptop. Both devices get a significant performance boost thanks to the Snapdragon X2 Plus chip, which delivers up to a 60% increase in graphics performance with the Adreno GPU.

The Surface Pro can last up to 13-15 hours on a charge, while the Laptop ranges from 18-22.5 hours, according to Microsoft. The devices also feature improved everyday performance for common multitasking and 16GB or 24GB of RAM, plus up to 512GB of internal storage.

The Surface Pro gets a new note-taking tool called Ink Canvas, which is an AI-powered, pen-first experience for sketching, annotating, generating images, and summarizing text directly on the canvas. Both devices also ace the fundamentals with a healthy selection of ports, Wi-Fi 7, studio-quality microphones, high-quality webcams, and Dolby Audio speakers.

Microsoft is releasing the second-generation Surface Pro and Surface Laptop powered by Snapdragon on October 13, with prices starting at $1,149 for the 12-inch Surface Pro and $1,199 for the 13-inch Surface Laptop. A new Surface Mouse with haptic feedback will also launch on the same day for $80.
