Microsoft Unveils Overhaul of Copilot AI Tool with Three New Capabilities

Microsoft is revamping its Copilot AI tool to make it more accessible and user-friendly. The company is introducing three new capabilities: Home, Code, and Autopilot. Home will serve as a starting point for users, allowing them to ask questions, look up information, and draft content. It will also automatically route queries to other capabilities.

The Code capability will use technology from Microsoft's coding assistant GitHub Copilot to turn ideas into applications, dashboards, and workflows. Autopilot, previously known as Scout, will be a persistent and proactive personal agent that can watch channels, follow up on threads, and run recurring work without user prompting.

Microsoft is also revising its pricing configuration for Microsoft 365 Copilot Business licenses to have usage-based billing on by default for eligible services starting November 2. The company believes this change will extend solution provider opportunities beyond individual productivity gains and into more complex use cases.
