Microsoft Unveils Windows and Surface Plans at October 7th Event
Microsoft is hosting its first major Windows event in over two years on October 7th at 10AM PT / 1PM ET. The event will be held in San Francisco and will focus on the future direction of both Windows and Microsoft's Surface hardware.
The company has been emphasizing the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in its PC strategy, and this event is expected to detail how local AI capabilities will shape the next chapter of the PC. CEO Satya Nadella and Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri will attend the event, along with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
The appearance of Nvidia's chief executive suggests that Microsoft may be highlighting its partnership with silicon partners in the development of on-device AI performance. The company is expected to outline quality improvements to Windows and detail what comes next for the operating system.
Microsoft has not confirmed whether new Surface models or refreshed positioning for the Surface Laptop Ultra will be announced during the event. However, the company is expected to provide more information on pricing and availability for these products.
