Microsoft Updates Defender Antivirus with New Security Intelligence Version
Microsoft has rolled out a new security intelligence update for its Defender Antivirus, labeled version 1.459.576.0. This update is distributed under the KB22676702 identifier and aims to refresh detection definitions for Microsoft Defender Antivirus and other Microsoft antimalware products across Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server.
The update enhances security intelligence to address the latest threats and refine detection logic. Microsoft notes that these definitions work in tandem with its AI-enhanced cloud-based protection.
Users can verify their current version by opening Windows Security, navigating to Virus & threat protection, and selecting Protection Updates. If the system shows version 1.459.576.0 or a newer build, the definitions are up-to-date, even if Windows Update history appears inconsistent.
Administrators can manually trigger an update using the MpCmdRun.exe utility from an elevated command prompt. The SignatureUpdate switch prompts Defender to fetch the latest definitions immediately. For those facing update issues, Microsoft provides manual download options for 32-bit, 64-bit, and ARM versions on its Security Intelligence page.
