Microsoft Vows to Overhaul Ancient Windows Dialogs in Windows 11
Microsoft is committed to updating its Windows 11 operating system with modern UI designs. According to March Rogers, Partner Director of Design at Microsoft, the company has confirmed that it will be revamping older dialogs in Windows 11, including those from ancient versions such as Windows 95 and Windows 8.1.
The update comes after users pointed out that parts of Settings still looked like they belonged in an older version of Windows. Rogers stated that the company is 'gradually working our way through modernizing older UI in Windows' and that the Voice packages dialog, which was one example cited by users, is on their list for an update.
In addition to updating individual dialogs, Microsoft plans to rebuild its old interfaces using WinUI 3, a modern native UI framework. This approach will allow the company to maintain compatibility with older versions of Windows without sacrificing performance or design consistency.
