Microsoft Waives Development Incentive for Mount Pleasant Data Center
Microsoft has made a significant move in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, by waiving its $5 million annual development incentive for its data center. The company will redirect this amount to the Village of Mount Pleasant and the Racine County Economic Development Corporation.
The $4.9 million allocated to the Village of Mount Pleasant will go toward stabilizing resident tax bills and funding public projects, including road repairs and emergency vehicle purchases. This move is expected to have a direct impact on property tax rates, with taxpayers noticing a difference in their December property tax bills starting in 2027.
In addition to property tax relief, the village will also use this funding for capital expenses such as rebuilding roads and purchasing new police and fire vehicles. By doing so, Mount Pleasant will avoid borrowing money and save taxpayers from interest costs.
The remaining $100,000 will be given to the Racine County Economic Development Corporation to fund countywide business attraction and economic growth initiatives.
