Microsoft Word's Plagiarism Detection Tool Set to Disappear in 2026

Additionally, Microsoft 365 Copilot features will also remain intact after the retirement of the Similarity Checker. However, it's essential to note that Copilot is not a formal similarity or plagiarism detection tool.

Microsoft recommends that organizations review their workflows and consider alternative solutions for formal similarity checks before the retirement date. This includes informing affected users and evaluating new tools to ensure they meet their needs.
