Microsoft X Account Hijacked in Cryptocurrency Pump-and-Dump Scheme

Microsoft's official account on X was hacked by unknown attackers in what appears to be a pump-and-dump scheme promoting a crypto token. The attack began when the Microsoft account followed and reposted a tweet from another now-suspended X account impersonating Microsoft's Clippy virtual assistant.

The suspended account, @clippymsftcto, has been linked to a new X account, @ClippyMSFT, that is still promoting the $Clippy crypto token. This token claims to have a liquidity pool paired directly with $MSFT stock.

Microsoft has since removed the attackers' posts and confirmed the incident, saying it's investigating the circumstances. The company apologized for the unauthorized posts and stated that it doesn't support any cryptocurrency or crypto-related tokens, promising legal action against those involved.
