Microsoft Xbox Game Pass Overhaul: Day One Releases May Be Dropped

Xbox Game Pass subscribers may soon see major changes to their subscription service. Microsoft is reportedly planning to drop Day One releases, which currently include first-party games for Ultimate subscribers, sometime between February and April 2027.

The rumored change would coincide with a price decrease of $3 per month, bringing the cost down to $19.99 from $23.99. This new tier would be in addition to other existing options, including the option to purchase cloud streaming for $5.99, but only for 24 hours.

Additionally, Microsoft is considering introducing a family plan for an extra $5.99 per month and offering a separate online multiplayer-only option for $10.99. Another possibility is a new tier that would grant access to the game library alone for $14.99 per month with ads included.

The rumored changes were first reported by ResetEra, citing industry insider Slayven's claim that Microsoft is planning these shifts in their subscription service.
