Microsoft's Copilot Ups the AI Productivity Ante with New Features

Microsoft's Copilot is evolving to automate more tasks in the workplace. The service will now have separate tabs for Home, Code, and agents, called Autopilots. These changes aim to simplify productivity and collaboration within Microsoft Office documents.

The 'Today' dashboard is a new feature that outlines and performs users' to-do tasks. This tool uses artificial intelligence to help humans navigate through tasks and functions, simplifying and automating them. The 'Today' dashboard will launch in private preview this October and integrate with Outlook and Teams.

Copilot-coded apps and agents require an undisclosed payment system, while Microsoft 365 running inside Copilot is set for release within weeks to its 'frontier' test program. Code will enable users to create small, purpose-built solutions and run them securely online, a concept known as 'vibe coding.' The Autopilots feature allows agents to roam between Teams, Outlook, and other Microsoft applications, governed by oversight and policy.
