Microsoft's Datacenter Academy Trains Thousands for Tech Careers
Microsoft's Datacenter Academy has expanded globally since its launch in 2018, providing hands-on training to students for entry-level careers in technology and digital infrastructure. Over 12,522 students have enrolled in the program worldwide, with a significant presence in India.
Huziafa Bin Yahiya Ibees, a 26-year-old datacenter technician intern from Hyderabad, credits the program with giving him the opportunity to learn 'the technology of the future'. He is one of many students who have benefited from the academy's training, which includes real-world learning environments and partnerships with local colleges and nonprofits.
Rekha Srinivasan, CEO of United Way of Hyderabad, notes that datacenters bring allied industries around them, creating a lot of opportunities for economic growth. The program is designed to train students for entry-level careers in technology and digital infrastructure, providing options for people looking to change careers.
The Datacenter Academy has expanded its reach globally, with the opening of new academies in countries such as Australia and India. In Australia, the first datacenter academy was launched in Sydney in February 2025, while in India, Microsoft operates datacenters in cities including Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai.
