Microsoft's Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE) has hit a snag in its development process. The team behind the software has been working to release Cumulative Update 1 (CU1), but the project is facing delays due to the introduction of AI-powered bug-finding tools.

The Exchange team explained that they are 'getting questions from our customers on when they can expect us to release Exchange SE Cumulative Update 1 (CU1)'. They had initially promised a release by the end of the first half of calendar year 2026, later updated to 'second half of 2026', but have yet to meet that deadline.

The team cited the extra work created by AI bug-finders as a major contributor to the delay. According to them, they are working through reported issues, validating and reproducing security vulnerabilities, fixing and testing for regressions, and releasing updates monthly.
