Microsoft's Frank Shaw to Depart After Nearly Two Decades

Microsoft Chief Communications Officer Frank Shaw has announced his departure from the company after nearly two decades of service. In an internal note, Shaw stated that he had reached a point where he wanted to move on and explore new opportunities. He will continue in his current role until the end of the calendar year while Microsoft works on its next steps and identifies his successor.

Shaw has been closely associated with Microsoft's communications for 29 years, first working with the company through the Waggener Edstrom agency before joining Microsoft as an employee. During his tenure, he navigated numerous major product launches and corporate developments, including the expansion of Microsoft's focus on cloud computing, enterprise software, artificial intelligence, and subscription-based services.

As chief communications officer, Shaw played a key role in helping explain those changes to employees, customers, investors, journalists, and other stakeholders. His communications organisation has been central to presenting Microsoft's changes and managing its public messaging during periods of intense industry competition and scrutiny.
