Microsoft is expanding its data center operations in Malaga, Washington, but concerns are being raised over water and power usage.

The company's second data center building is currently under construction and expected to be operational by late fall. The first building is set to begin operating within days, while the third is expected to be completed in 2027.

A tour of the site revealed that the three buildings will be roughly the same size, approximately 210,000 square feet each. Visitors were able to see the construction process firsthand, but were required to wear personal protective equipment due to safety concerns.

Microsoft's data center expansion has raised questions about the environmental impact of such large-scale operations. The company has not provided detailed information on its plans for water and power usage, leaving some to wonder how it will mitigate potential negative effects.
