Microsoft announced that its Saudi Arabia East datacenter region will be available to customers in November 2026. This region, located in the Eastern Province and comprising three Azure Availability Zones, will provide local data residency, enterprise-grade security, high availability, and low-latency access to cloud and AI services.

The new region is a major milestone for Microsoft's long-term investment in Saudi Arabia, supporting the kingdom's ambitious AI-powered economy. As organizations across the Kingdom move from AI experimentation to deployment at scale, the new region will provide the local digital foundation needed to support mission-critical workloads and accelerate AI adoption.

According to an IDC study, Microsoft, its partners, and customers using Microsoft cloud technologies are expected to generate approximately $44 billion in new revenues for the Saudi economy between 2027 and 2030. The new datacenter region is projected to contribute around 13.4% of that value and create about 100,000 new jobs across the Saudi economy during the same period.
