Midcap Stocks Plummet by Over 5% in Five Consecutive Sessions
The Indian stock market experienced a decline in midcap stocks over the last five trading sessions. The BSE MidCap index saw losses accumulate for consecutive days, with around 18 stocks declining each day from September 25 to October 1. Among these, 14 midcap stocks fell by more than 5% during this period.
The benchmark Sensex declined by 2.27%, or 1,671 points, to close at 71,909 on October 1. The New India Assurance Company led the list of decliners with a 11% fall, followed closely by Patanjali Foods and Tube Investments of India, both declining by 8%. Other notable losers included Oil India, Narayana Hrudayalaya, NMDC, Poonawalla Fincorp, SJVN, Hindustan Copper, HDB Financial Services, Colgate-Palmolive (India), Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care, and Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services.
