Millions of Attic Ladders Recalled Over Broken Bolts and Falls
More than 1 million attic stairway ladders have been recalled by Louisville Ladder Inc. due to reports of broken bolts and falls. The affected ladders were sold under various brand names, including Louisville, Featherlite, Lite, and Century.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that the aluminum or wood frame ladders with gas struts could break, causing injuries or even death. There have been 11 reports of bolt breaks, including one incident where someone was injured in the neck, head, and back.
The recalled ladders were sold nationwide between November 2012 and July 2026 at various retailers, including Home Depot, Lowe's, Do It Best, Orgill, Amazon, and others. They were priced between $170 and $600.
