The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall for over 1.7 million attic ladders due to a potential safety hazard. The issue lies in the bolts that can snap during use, posing a risk of serious injury or death from falls.

The affected models include attic stairway ladders with gas struts sold under the Louisville, Featherlite, Lite & Century brands. These ladders were made for various size openings and had lengths of 54 or 60 inches.

Consumers who have purchased these ladders from retailers such as Home Depot, Lowe's, Do It Best, Orgill, Amazon, and others should stop using them immediately and contact the manufacturer to register for a free repair kit. This recall affects not only homeowners in the U.S. but also those in Canada who bought over 13,000 units of this ladder.
