Minnesota Agencies Sue Manufacturers Over PFAS in Firefighting Gear

Twenty-eight Minnesota public entities have filed a federal lawsuit against several major manufacturers over alleged PFAS contamination in their firefighting equipment. The lawsuit names companies including 3M, DuPont and Honeywell.

The complaint alleges that these manufacturers knew the protective clothing and gear contained 'forever chemicals' but failed to adequately warn fire departments and public agencies about potential risks.

PFAS substances have been used in firefighting gear for their heat, water, and oil resistance. However, they can remain in the body and environment for extended periods, raising health and environmental concerns.
