Minwax picks soft, natural Pickled Oak as 2027 Color of the Year
Minwax has revealed Pickled Oak (MW260), a light, neutral hue with warm undertones, as its 2027 Color of the Year. This shade highlights the natural grain of wood, aligning with the growing trend of subtle, natural wood aesthetics in home design. The color was announced by Annie Dameworth on October 6, 2026.
According to Lisbeth Parada, Minwax’s color and design lead, Pickled Oak reflects a shift toward celebrating wood’s natural character. Inspired by the popularity of light woods like white oak and vintage pine, the color offers a modern, versatile finish for furniture, cabinetry, and DIY projects.
Beyond its visual appeal, Pickled Oak embodies a return to simplicity and intentional living. Parada notes that comfort, well-being, and purpose are increasingly shaping interior design, and the color’s soft, daylight-inspired effect supports this trend.
The shade complements other 2027 Color of the Year selections from Sherwin-Williams brands, including Celery (SW6421, HGSW6421) from Sherwin-Williams and Deep Rooted (311-7DB) from Dutch Boy Paints.
