Mitsubishi Invests Heavily in IBM Amid Quantum Computing Push
Mitsubishi UFJ Asset Management Co. Ltd., a leading financial services firm, has made a significant investment in International Business Machines Corporation (IBM). According to its most recent Form 13F filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mitsubishi acquired 2,431,943 shares of IBM's stock during the second quarter, valued at approximately $683,887,000. This acquisition represents about 0.26% of IBM's outstanding shares.
Several other large investors have also increased their stakes in IBM in recent quarters. Orca Wealth Management LLC, for example, boosted its holdings by 3.7%, while Friday Financial saw a 1.9% increase in its position. First Command Advisory Services Inc., Washington Trust Bank, and HORAN Wealth LLC also reported increases in their IBM holdings.
Despite this influx of institutional investment, some analysts have expressed concerns about IBM's growth prospects. However, the company has been making strides in emerging technologies such as quantum computing and artificial intelligence. Its quarterly dividend payment of $1.69 per share remains a key attraction for income-seeking investors.
