Mixed Start for US Stock Market as Tech Sector Remains Strong
The US stock market is set to kick off October on a mixed note. S&P 500 futures dropped by 0.25%, while Dow fell 0.86%. The Nasdaq, however, managed to edge up 0.24% in pre-market trading.
Despite the slight dip, investors have reason to be optimistic about the month ahead. Tech, communication services, and software/services sectors have been performing well, with megacaps like Alphabet and Apple leading the charge.
The market's performance will be influenced by several key factors, including developments in the Middle East, energy market movements, and US benchmark Treasury yields.
On Wednesday, S&P 500 fell 19.30 points to 7,651.54, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 443.87 to 50,906.05. The Nasdaq composite added 63.52 to 26,861.06.
