Moderna and Merck's Combination Therapy Shows Promise in Treating Melanoma

A new combination therapy developed by Moderna and Merck has shown promise in treating melanoma, a type of skin cancer.

The therapy combines pembrolizumab, an immune checkpoint inhibitor, with intismeran autogene, a personalized mRNA-based cancer vaccine.

In the Phase 3 INTerpath-001 trial, patients with resected high-risk melanoma who received the combination treatment had a clinically meaningful improvement in recurrence-free survival compared to those who received pembrolizumab alone.

The results suggest that the dual approach can provide a more personalized and effective treatment for patients with this type of cancer.
