Moderna and Merck's Intismeran Combo Shows Promising Results in Melanoma Trial

Moderna and Merck have reported positive results from a Phase 3 trial of their investigational mRNA-based individualized neoantigen therapy, intismeran. In combination with Keytruda (pembrolizumab), the treatment reduced the risk of recurrence or death in patients with completely resected stage IIB-IV melanoma compared to KEYTRUDA alone.

The trial, known as INTerpath-001, enrolled 1,137 patients who had undergone complete surgical resection. The results showed that intismeran in combination with Keytruda improved recurrence-free survival and distant metastasis-free survival compared with Keytruda alone. No new safety signals were identified.

The companies believe that individualized neoantigen therapies have the potential to redefine how patients with completely resected stage IIB-IV melanoma are treated. The findings will be presented at an upcoming international medical meeting and shared with regulatory authorities.
