Vanguard Russell 1000 Growth ETF: A Growth Stock Play with Unconventional Holdings

Instruments
NVDA
Share

Nvidia and Alphabet are the two largest holdings in the Vanguard Russell 1000 Growth ETF, making up over 26% of its portfolio. The ETF tracks the Russell 1000 index, which includes the 1,000 largest U.S companies by market capitalization.

The growth ETF's unique methodology classifies components as either pure-play growth or value stocks, and Nvidia and Alphabet are classified solely as growth stocks. This gives them significantly higher weightings in the Vanguard Russell 1000 Growth ETF than in the S&P 500 index.

Nvidia has reported a 70% increase in revenue forecast for fiscal 2028, despite increasingly difficult comparisons from fiscal 2027. Alphabet is also generating consistent growth and has exposure to multiple links along the artificial intelligence value chain.
