Moderna, Merck Vaccine Shows Promise in Preventing Melanoma Recurrence
A new vaccine, called Intismeran, has shown promise in preventing the recurrence of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. Developed by Moderna and Merck, this individualized vaccine uses mRNA technology, similar to that behind certain coronavirus vaccines.
The companies say their Phase 3 trial results suggest that the vaccine can stop the disease from returning or spreading, even when paired with another treatment called Keytruda.
This tailored approach takes into account unique mutations within individual tumors, making it a potential game-changer for patients who have had melanoma.
