MOL's FUJIN SAILOR Sets Sail as World's First LNG Carrier Equipped with Wind-Assisted Propulsion
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd.'s (MOL) new LNG carrier, the FUJIN SAILOR, was named at a ceremony on September 10, 2026, in South Korea's Geoje Shipyard.
The vessel is equipped with two units of Wind Challenger, a wind-assisted propulsion system that reduces fuel consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional propulsion.
Delivered under a long-term charter contract to Chevron Corporation (Chevron) at the end of September 2026, FUJIN SAILOR is one of eleven MOL Group vessels equipped with Wind Challenger technology.
