Monstropolis Blooms with New Greenery at Disney's Hollywood Studios
Monstropolis is growing rapidly at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios, as evidenced by recent construction activity. According to on-site reports, workers were busy this Saturday morning with a significant amount of concrete work taking place out of sight. While it was loud for a weekend, the new greenery and brick facade are visible signs of progress.
New trees have been planted around the entrance to the upcoming Monsters, Inc. land, giving visitors a glimpse into the future of the area. A red brick facade has also been installed along the side of Archie's Scare Pig Pizza (formerly PizzeRizzo), covering what was previously just white primer.
The construction is taking place on the site of the former Muppets Courtyard, which will eventually become Monstropolis. The land will open in phases beginning next year, although an official opening date has not been announced yet. Recent aerial shots reveal some of the work happening out of sight, including the beginnings of an octagonal fountain and the walkway to the suspended door coaster.
