Monstropolis Construction Unveils Chilling Theming Installations
Construction is progressing at Disney's Hollywood Studios, where Monstropolis is taking shape as part of a major overhaul. The land will be built on the site of the former Muppets Courtyard and is set to open in phases starting next year.
Aerial photos from bioreconstruct reveal that theming installations are being added throughout the area, including wooden forms that will become planters, exterior chopsticks theming for Harryhausen's restaurant, and trusses to brace scaffolding. The Monstropolis entrance plaza is also receiving more theming on concrete columns framing the guest entry point.
The structure with blue tarps on the left is the beginning of Harryhausen's, while carpenters are building forms for concrete planters in the lower right. This area will transition from Monstropolis city streets to the factory as guests walk along the same commute as Mike and Sulley.
A final aerial shot provides some perspective on Monstropolis' size and placement in comparison to the under-construction coaster show building above and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge to the right. The large gray building at top right is the Rise of the Resistance show building.
