Morgan Stanley Updates Top Picks with Alphabet, Apple, and Coca-Cola
Morgan Stanley's 'Vintage Values' stock selection process has yielded impressive results, and the firm has just updated its top picks for the next 12 months. The strategy prioritizes large-cap quality and bottom-up fundamentals over short-term market momentum.
The 2026 Vintage Values model portfolio generated a 32.12% return over the past year, outperforming the S&P 500's nearly 19% gain. Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL), Apple (AAPL), and Coca-Cola were added to the newly updated 2027 selection.
The selection process involves North American analysts submitting their single highest-conviction recommendation for a one-year holding period. The initial pool of over 50 companies was narrowed down to 15 equities, with approximately 60% ranking in the top two quality brackets compared to 56% for the broader S&P 500 benchmark.
The emphasis on high-quality and growth stocks leaves the new portfolio trading at a valuation premium over the general market. Strategists emphasize that individual company catalysts rather than recent stock performance are driving the selections.
