Chicago-based investment firm Morningstar has signed a deal to move its global headquarters and 1,500 employees to the James R. Thompson Center in downtown Chicago. The company will be joining Google's new headquarters in the redeveloped building.

Morningstar's current location is just two blocks south and east of the Thompson Center, in a building at 22 W. Washington St in Block 37.

The company has announced plans to donate $5 million to Chicago non-profit organizations over the next five years. Most of this commitment will go towards a fund managed by the United Way of Metro Chicago, which aims to support job training and financial literacy education for Chicagoans.

Google's renovations at the Thompson Center are expected to be completed in 2028, with Morningstar planning to move in later that year.
