Motion Assist Expands to More Android Phones Through Google Play Services
Google has expanded its motion-sickness feature, Motion Assist, to more Android phones through Google Play services. This feature uses your phone's motion sensors to move on-screen bubbles in sync with the vehicle, aiming to reduce the mismatch that can cause motion sickness.
The update is available for devices running Android 17 or newer and Google Play services v26.37. Motion Assist places small visual bubbles around the edges of the display, which can be customized in terms of opacity, color, and shape. The feature can turn on automatically when your phone detects that you are in a moving vehicle, or you can enable it manually through Quick Settings.
The September 21 update also includes other features such as easier health metric transfer from Wear OS watches to phones, improved Driving Do Not Disturb functionality, and larger system emoji fonts. Additionally, Google Play Store v53.3 brings local-currency purchases in certain countries and changes to Wear search results.
