Motion Assist Rolls Out on Android 17, Cues Users Against Motion Sickness
Google is slowly rolling out its new Motion Assist feature on Android 17 devices. The feature helps reduce motion sickness by displaying motion cues on the screen while users are in a moving vehicle.
Motion Assist can be found in Google Play Settings, where users can toggle it to automatically activate when they're in a moving vehicle or manually turn it on/off through a Quick Settings tile.
The feature has been in development since December 2024 and is now available for some Pixel phone users. However, the rollout appears to be gradual, with varying availability even among devices running Android 17.
Users can customize Motion Assist by changing the color, shape, and opacity of the motion indicators, as well as randomizing these settings. The feature also handles system-level restrictions on screen overlays better than its initial implementation.
