Musk's Optimus Prediction Sparks Skepticism About Tesla's Market Cap
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has made another bold prediction, stating that the company's Optimus robot could help reach a market cap of $25 trillion. This would be an increase of 2,500% from Tesla's current valuation.
To put this in perspective, JPMorgan Chase predicts that the global robotics industry will grow to $2.5 trillion by 2035, up from just $100 billion in 2025. Assuming a similar valuation for Tesla, its robotics division could be worth around $3 trillion if it captures 10% of the market.
Musk's prediction is ambitious, but some experts are skeptical about whether Optimus will reach such heights anytime soon. The entire value of the S&P 500 is currently around $70 trillion, so a market cap of $25 trillion for Tesla would account for 36% of the index at today's prices.
