Nadella Joins AI Caution Call, Pushes Human Supervision
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has joined the growing list of tech leaders calling for caution in AI development. In a recent post on X, he emphasized that advanced AI systems must remain under human supervision while creators pursue measured progress to guarantee safety.
Nadella stated that any pursuit of superintelligence should be grounded in the principle that AI built by humans is helping humanity and under their control. He also highlighted the need to accelerate and spread the benefits of AI, making it diffused broadly across countries, communities, and companies.
Welcoming the research focus on 'embedded evaluators' and broader efforts to develop mechanisms for alignment, Nadella stressed that governance cannot be controlled by a handful of entities but must have broad representation across the ecosystem, countries, and fields.
