NAM Bolsters Fleet with Fifth Boeing 747 Freighters Amid E-Commerce Surge

Network Airline Management (NAM) has expanded its fleet of Boeing 747 freighters to five aircraft. The latest addition, a converted Boeing 747-400F, joined NAM's fleet at the end of July and is operating out of Liege Airport.

The new freighter has already conducted flights to several destinations, including Sharjah, Lagos, Accra, Entebbe, and Nairobi, according to FlightRadar 24. The company says this addition will solidify its commitment to providing robust capacity to the global air cargo market.

NAM's chief executive, Jonathan Clark, attributes the growth in demand for air cargo to uncertainty in container shipping. He notes that perishables exporters have remained with air cargo due to disruptions caused by the Red Sea missile crisis and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

As a result, NAM has seen an increase in its regular business, particularly in the perishables market between Nairobi and Europe. E-commerce growth remains strong, with online retailers targeting alternative markets, including Africa, following the introduction of US duties on e-commerce shipments.
