Napster Shifts to AI Agents on Microsoft Azure
Napster, once a pioneer in music streaming, has undergone a significant transformation. The company is now focused on developing and selling AI agents via Microsoft's Azure cloud platform.
The reboot, led by CEO John Acunto, aims to leverage the power of artificial intelligence to create personalized interactions between businesses and their customers. This move marks a departure from the music streaming business that Napster was once synonymous with.
Napster is taking an asset-light approach, integrating its agents with established large language models hosted on Azure. According to Acunto, this strategy allows for cost savings, with prices starting at just one cent per minute, significantly lower than competitors who charge between 25 cents and $1 per minute.
