NASA and Boeing Outline Next Steps for Starliner Program
NASA and Boeing have outlined their next steps for the Starliner program, following the uncrewed test flight of the spacecraft in June 2024.
The agency plans to conduct an uncrewed mission, Starliner-1, as early as December this year or January 2027, which will serve as an engineering evaluation mission to validate improvements made to the spacecraft and verify improved thermal environments.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said that the data from Starliner-1 will be used to continue implementing corrective actions identified by its Program Investigation Team and complete the testing and certification required for crewed flight.
The agency also announced plans to exercise options for a fifth and sixth Starliner flight to and from the International Space Station, with a crewed mission targeted for 2028.
