NASA and Boeing Revive Starliner Program After Troubled Test Flight

NASA and Boeing have reaffirmed their commitment to using Starliner for astronaut missions to the International Space Station, despite issues that arose during a test flight in June 2024.

The test flight experienced problems with its thrusters during docking and a helium leak, prompting NASA to bring back the crew without completing the mission.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman stated that Boeing is moving in the right direction to address the concerns raised by the incident.

Boeing plans to conduct an uncrewed test flight as early as December, followed by a crewed test flight in 2028. The fixes include addressing the thruster issues due to corrosion and implementing new procedures to prevent similar damage.
