NASA has unveiled plans to host a major US aerospace event aimed at competing with long-standing international air shows. The agency hopes the new event will serve as the platform for Boeing Co. to debut its next commercial airplane. Dubbed CapeWeek, the event will make its debut in 2028 at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center. It is being developed through a collaboration between NASA, the state of Florida, and Space Florida.

The new air show is positioned to challenge the dominance of events held outside the US, particularly those in London and Paris. These international shows have traditionally been key venues for industry dealmaking and aircraft showcases. By bringing a large-scale aerospace event to the US, NASA aims to shift some of that focus stateside.

The public-private partnership behind CapeWeek underscores the effort to create a significant aerospace event. The involvement of NASA, along with state and regional partners, highlights the strategic importance of the initiative. The event is expected to attract major players in the aerospace industry, potentially reshaping the landscape of global air shows.
