Natura Cuts Infrastructure Automation Time in Half with IBM Partnership
Natura Cosméticos S/A, a leading company in Latin America, has significantly improved its software development and infrastructure management processes through a partnership with IBM. The company's senior IT infrastructure manager, Alexandre Borzani, explained how Natura used AI to automate complex tasks.
IBM developed 'Bob,' a conversational agent integrated into the development environment, which can create and refactor code while respecting an organization's specific rules and architectures. Initially used by around 80 developers, Bob has generated a 45% increase in productivity.
Natura also created five specialized agents within Bob focused on architecture, quality, and security, integrating them with monitoring and credential management tools to facilitate development and automation. The company successfully automated several tasks, including the notification of construction companies about product availability and the coordination of power outages using the HubInfo Platform.
The time required to create complex infrastructure automations has been reduced from 2-3 weeks to around one week. Borzani emphasized that the strategy for the future involves scaling the number and intelligence of agents, allowing them to perform routine operational tasks so that the technical team can focus on more strategic projects.
