Navitas and Microchip Unveil High-Efficiency AI Data Center Power Platform
Navitas Semiconductor Corp (NVTS) is gaining attention today after announcing a collaboration with Microchip Technology Inc. (MCHP) to develop a high-efficiency power platform for AI data centers. The partnership combines Navitas’ gallium nitride (GaN) power chips with Microchip’s control and security technology to create a 20-kilowatt reference design. This system converts an 800-volt rack supply directly to a fixed 6-volt server rail, achieving up to 96% peak efficiency at full load.
The design simplifies power conversion by integrating two stages into a single converter, improving overall efficiency and allowing closer integration with graphics processing units. As a reference platform, it provides equipment manufacturers with the necessary hardware, software, and documentation to develop their own 800-volt power systems.
Navitas has been increasingly focusing on AI infrastructure and high-power markets, with its high-power revenue growing over 50% year over year. The company estimates that AI data centers, energy and grid infrastructure, performance computing, and industrial electrification represent a $3.5 billion serviceable available market by 2030. Navitas is also working with Nvidia (NVDA) on an 800-volt architecture for high-power data center racks.
Microchip has been expanding its presence in AI data-center infrastructure, with its Data Center Solutions business generating $302.7 million in 2025 revenue and expecting a 65% growth to roughly $500 million in 2026. On Stocktwits, retail investors’ sentiment for NVTS stock remains ‘extremely bullish,’ while sentiment for MCHP stock is ‘bearish.’ So far this year, NVTS stock has surged over 46%, and MCHP stock has risen nearly 25%.
