NBC Celebrates 75 Years of Growth in Nigeria with $1 Billion Economic Impact
The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) marked its 75th anniversary in Nigeria with a gala event at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja. President Bola Tinubu, represented by Senator George Akume, congratulated NBC on this milestone and praised the Coca-Cola system for its ongoing investments in Nigeria.
NBC has expanded significantly since its first production run in Ebute Metta in 1951. It now includes eight plants, 11 depots, and 52 commercial territories across Nigeria, supporting jobs, local supply chains, talent development, and community investment.
Anastassis G. David, Chairman of Coca-Cola HBC, reflected on the company's origins, stating that in 1951 Anastasios Leventis negotiated the rights for the entire Nigerian market. This bold decision expressed a strong belief in Nigeria's potential and its people.
The Coca-Cola system has contributed approximately $1 billion in value-added economic activity across its value chain in Nigeria in 2024, supporting over 160,000 jobs. The company sourced almost $601 million worth of goods and services from Nigerian suppliers in the same year.
