NCLA Marks Decade of Success in Defending American Civil Liberties
The New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA) marked its tenth anniversary by celebrating its success in defending and advancing Americans' civil liberties against attacks from the Administrative State. At a gala in Washington, D.C., supporters, clients, and legal luminaries gathered to recognize NCLA's achievements over the past decade.
NCLA has had a significant impact on the Supreme Court, with notable victories including the overturning of Chevron judicial deference in Relentless Inc. v. Department of Commerce. The organization also reached a historic settlement with the State Department this year, barring it from suppressing constitutionally protected speech by Americans and domestic media outlets.
NCLA has been instrumental in petitioning the Supreme Court to hear several cases, including Powell, et al. v. Securities and Exchange Commission, which effectively forced the SEC to withdraw its unconstitutional Gag Rule silencing Americans who settled enforcement cases with the agency.
