Neoclouds Split GPU Orders Between Nvidia and AMD at Parity
Nvidia's dominance in AI data centers may be waning as Neoclouds are now splitting GPU orders between Nvidia and AMD at rough parity, according to VAST Data's John Mao. This shift is due in part to a price advantage that AMD has over Nvidia.
AMD's financial results for Q1 2026 show increased demand, with $5.8 billion in data center revenue, up 57% year over year. The company also projects EPYC sales up 70% and Instinct sales up 46% in Q2.
The buyer pool is growing rapidly, with Neocloud revenue topping $25 billion in 2025 and expected to reach near $400 billion by 2031. This has led to a surge in demand for both Nvidia and AMD processors, resulting in long lead times for both companies.
