Nest Cam Owners Reveal Average Lifespan of Google's Popular Security Camera
Google's Nest Cam is generally well-reviewed and packed with features, but how long does it last? According to online users, the camera can last anywhere from four to five years before showing signs of wear. While some owners claim their cameras looked brand-new after six or even seven years, others have reported issues as early as three years into use.
The most common complaints about Nest Cam longevity involve random shutdowns and power cord failures. In some cases, the outer layer of the power cable disintegrates due to UV damage, although this is not a guarantee. Battery-powered models may also lose charge over time, especially if used for an extended period.
Fortunately, many issues can be resolved by restarting the camera or replacing the power cord. However, battery failures are more problematic since the battery itself cannot be replaced without compromising the camera's weather seal.
