Netwrix Bolsters Identity Security with Expanded AI Agent Coverage
A leading identity and data security company, Netwrix, has expanded its AI agent coverage in Microsoft Entra ID. The latest releases of Netwrix PingCastle and Netwrix Threat Manager now provide visibility into AI agent identities and extend risk coverage to over 100 checks.
Organizations are rapidly deploying AI agents, which pose an increasing security threat as they hold real permissions within the enterprise environment. However, most exist outside inventory, ownership, or review processes. According to a Cloud Security Alliance survey, only 24% of organizations have adopted policies for creating or removing AI system identities.
The consequences are significant: Netwrix's 2026 Data and Identity Security Report found a 43% breach rate among organizations where AI expanded the number of identities needing access, compared to 11% without such expansion. To address this issue, Netwrix PingCastle now extends its Microsoft Entra ID coverage to 102 risk checks, allowing security teams to assess identity risk across on-premises AD and Entra ID.
The latest release of Netwrix Threat Manager adds visibility into AI agent identities in Microsoft Entra ID, providing an inventory of operating agents and access. This is a crucial step towards governing non-human identities, as the Netwrix report found only 19% of organizations fully govern such identities.
